Primary school book bands are used up and down the country for primary age groups to help easily identify both fiction, and non-fiction books for a specific reading ability. Applying a coloured book band to a book means that children have free choice to independently choose a book they want to read when their teacher assigns them a colour to look out for. Children are much more likely to want to read a book of their choosing, so this system is great for creating an interest and a love for books and reading.
Laburnum House has a huge selection of books which we have categorised using the primary school book bands system. We stock books which are suitable for nursery aged children, the pink and red bands, all the way up to children in year 6, who will be hopefully competently reading dark blue and dark red banded books by the time they finish the year. With over two decades of experience supplying schools with books and literature, we have a good understanding of what children enjoy reading and what topics need to be covered in the national curriculum, with the use of our primary school book bands, that help create ease for both teachers and young students.
Our friendly staff are more than happy to help should you have any questions and can draw on their wealth of experience to help guide you to the right books for you and your school should you need the assistance.
