Phase 1

Phase 1 focuses on developing children’s listening, speaking, and sound recognition skills, laying the foundation for phonics learning. At this stage, children are encouraged to listen carefully to a variety of sounds in their environment, recognize patterns in speech, and practice repeating sounds. They also begin to make connections between sounds and letters, preparing them for early reading and writing.

Activities in Phase 1 are divided into seven key aspects, each designed to enhance different areas of phonological awareness.
