COVID-19 is the dreaded subject that is being talked about so much recently, and it is clear to see it is having a massive impact on everyone’s day to day lives. If you had to take a positive out of the situation we are in, it is how everyone is working together as a team.
Celebrities are just like us, they are also having to self-isolate themselves, but what we have noticed is that they are getting involved to help everyone too. A lot of celebrities are creating their own lessons to help children stay entertained and educated throughout the day. Let’s take a look at some.
Home Workouts
Joe Wicks, also known as “The Body Coach” is a British fitness coach, TV presenter and author. On his website, he has a variety of plans available to help you get fitter. With the schools currently closed because of the virus, Joe Wicks has decided to host a free workout aimed at kids on his YouTube channel. It is so important to make sure that kids keep moving and stay healthy and positive, this is exactly what Joe wants to help encourage.
The workouts are suitable for all ages and even adults can get involved. You don’t need to worry about having any equipment, just tune into his YouTube channel at 9 am each morning and enjoy a 30-minute workout.
Maths Lessons
The Maths Factor is an online teaching platform created by Carol Vorderman. She offers a wide range of course topics and games designed to teach Maths to children whilst also having a fun aspect to it. Usually the classes are around £2 per week, but Carol has now made The Maths Factor free for everyone to support children’s’ continued learning at home for the duration of the school’s closure period.
English Lessons
It is important to make sure that children are continuing to read whilst they are not at school. To help with this, children’s’ author and comedian, David Walliams is releasing a free audio story every day for a month. This is to keep children entertained whilst being at home but also so they are keeping up with their reading and learning.
Music Lessons
Are you struggling to get the kids to sit down and do Maths and English lessons? Well, Myleene Klass has set up a YouTube channel to teach children music, ideal for keeping them entertained during these tough times. There is no need for instruments, just simply go onto her channel and let your children have a bit of fun.
Home Economics
As well as teaching children the curriculum subjects, it is also a good idea to teach young children home economics, so they are prepared for later life. Theo Michaels is hosting a live cookalong every Monday, Wednesday and Friday via his Instagram channel. He is publishing a list of ingredients the day before each cookalong so you are prepared. This isn’t supposed to be a serious class, it has been designed so you can have some fun, learn something new and ultimately have your dinner prepared!
There are so many things you can do at home with the kids to keep them entertained, the most important thing to remember is that they will be struggling too. Keep them busy and keep an eye on whether their moods start to drop. Together, we will get through this.
